Eleven Arrested After Two Group Assaults in Kuching, Malaysia

Kuching police arrested a total of eleven men in connection with two separate group assaults that occurred on May 21. The first attack happened around 1:30 a.m. on Jalan BDC, where the victim was beaten with sticks and a baton. Police detained seven men, aged 21‑33, and seized a baton believed to have been used. One of the suspects had a prior criminal record; all tested negative for drugs.

The second assault occurred at about 7:28 a.m. on Jalan Tabuan Hilir. Four men, aged 17‑25, were taken into custody; each had previous criminal records and also tested negative for drugs. The victims from both incidents were taken to Sarawak General Hospital for treatment. All eleven suspects received four‑day remand orders from the Kuching Magistrate’s Court and are being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons, an offence punishable by up to ten years’ imprisonment, a fine, or whipping.
