Elgin Opera House to host youth production of Shrek JR

The Elgin Opera House will host a production of ‘Shrek JR’ starting October 16. This junior musical features a cast entirely composed of performers under the age of 18.

Executive artistic director Terry Hale noted that the production offers youth actors the chance to take on large, energetic characters. Notable roles include Natalie Kilpatrick as Donkey and Colt Johnson as Lord Farquaad. The production is part of an annual tradition where the youth actors select their favorite segments to compete in a junior theater festival in February.
