Elk on Sweden's E4 highway disrupts traffic

Swedish road authority Trafikverket reported that several elk were moving on or near the E4 highway, causing traffic slow‑downs. The disruptions affected both directions of the road between the Kalix‑Näsbyn stretch heading toward Haparanda, and also between the Mjösundet and Hemberget sections.

Drivers were advised to exercise caution while travelling the affected segments, though no accidents or injuries have been reported. The presence of the wildlife has prompted temporary traffic management measures until the animals move away from the roadway.
