Elk Range Mining identifies coarse gold in Idaho drill core
Elk Range Mining has identified coarse visible gold within retained historical drill core at its Friday gold project, located approximately 15 kilometers southwest of Elk City, Idaho.
The gold was discovered during a systematic review of a 2014 drill hole. The specific interval, located at approximately 137 meters downhole, was part of a previously reported high-grade zone that yielded 5.30 meters at 26.54 g/t gold. Company officials noted that the original 2014 samples underwent 50-gram fire assays, which may have under-reported grades in a coarse or nuggety deposit due to small sample sizes.
To obtain more representative data, the company is utilizing modern photon assay analysis, which employs a larger 500-gram sample charge. Results from this re-assay campaign are expected in late October or early November. Simultaneously, the company’s maiden 2,850-meter diamond drilling program is underway, including a twin hole designed to verify historical geology before drilling deeper into previously untested areas.
