Ellinikon Sports Park opens first phase in Athens on July 20, 2026

Lamda Development handed over the first phase of the Ellinikon Sports Park on 20 July 2026. The 287,000 m² complex, located in the heart of the Ellinikon site, includes a world‑class athletics track with 1,070 spectator seats, a throwing area, four 11 × 11 football pitches (two artificial turf, two hybrid), two basketball courts, two tennis courts, a 124‑room sports hostel, pedestrian and cycling paths, four eateries, 1,350 parking spaces and a Super‑app for booking facilities.

Public access is free via Alimos (Aerospace Avenue). Until September the park operates daily from 18:00 to 23:00; from September onward it will be open 08:00‑24:00, 362 days a year. The project, costing about €100 million and fully financed by Lamda Development, is part of the wider urban regeneration of the former Athens airport. It is expected to host 200‑300 000 visitors by the end of 2026, one million in 2027 and up to five million annually thereafter. The park’s inaugural event was the EKO Rally Acropolis, featuring 57 crews from 24 countries and drawing over 10,000 spectators. CEO Odysseas Athanasiou called the delivery a “symbolic milestone” for the Ellinikon redevelopment.
