Ellinikon Sports Park to Open First Facilities in July 2026, Residents Move In 2027
The Ellinikon Sports Park in Athens will begin staged public access to its track and field venue, throwing area, football and tennis courts from July 2026, with an official inauguration planned for autumn 2026. Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis was briefed on progress by LAMDA Development CEO Odysseas Athanasiou during a site visit.
An agreement will relocate the Hellenic Gymnastics Federation to Hangar B, while athletes will be temporarily housed at the Olympic Stadium, the Taekwondo venue and the Velodrome for about 15 months. Discussions with the government, the Region of Attica and the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS) on athletics facilities are reported to be advanced.
Construction of the surrounding residential area, including the Little Athens neighbourhood and the Promenade Heights complex (79 homes across nine buildings), is on schedule, with handover to owners expected in the first half of 2027, when the first residents will move in.
