ELME Piraeus calls for free education and student support after university admissions announcement

The ELME Piraeus teachers' union issued a congratulatory message to all candidates of the Panhellenic university admissions exams, praising their effort and urging them to continue with optimism regardless of results. The statement highlighted that a young person’s value cannot be reduced to a grade or score and drew attention to the rising costs of student housing, meals, transport and textbooks that burden thousands of Greek families.

ELME Piraeus called on student unions to demand free tuition, adequate and free student residences, free meals and transportation, modern facilities, and degrees that guarantee full employment and social security rights. It also encouraged those who did not achieve their target scores that life does not end at a single exam and urged them to explore alternative pathways.

The union reaffirmed its commitment to fight for a publicly funded, tuition‑free higher‑education system without financial or class barriers.
