ELN propaganda flags trigger police and army response in Pereira, Colombia
On the morning of 4 July, four ELN‑related flags and banners were found at strategic points in Pereira, causing concern among residents and motorists. The Metropolitan Police of Pereira, together with the National Army’s Special Operations Group and anti‑terrorism unit, cordoned the sites, verified the absence of explosive devices and safely removed the material without injuries or damage.
Police investigations linked the distribution of the propaganda to two motorcycles possibly originating from Chocó. The operation is part of heightened security measures marking the ELN’s 60th anniversary, with authorities continuing to identify and prosecute those responsible.
