Elon Musk Amplifies UK Far‑Right Immigration Content Ahead of SpaceX IPO

In the two weeks leading up to SpaceX’s Nasdaq debut, Elon Musk used his X platform to post 303 messages about race and immigration, of which about 75% targeted UK politics. By contrast, he posted 114 times about SpaceX itself. Musk repeatedly reshared content from far‑right figures such as Restore Britain leader Rupert Lowe and activist Tommy Robinson, directing roughly 64 million views toward their material. Several posts generated tens of millions of impressions, with at least 20 exceeding 10 million views each.

The amplified messaging coincided with anti‑immigration protests in Belfast that escalated into violence, including masked men burning cars and homes. The Centre for Countering Digital Hate logged 240 calls for violence in replies to Musk‑amplified content after the incident. UK leaders, including former Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his successor Andy Burnham, publicly condemned Musk’s interference, noting the lack of UK regulation on non‑citizen political speech on his platform. Musk offered no public explanation for the focus on UK immigration during the period surrounding his company’s market debut.
