Elon Musk predicts AI surpassing humans; Coinbase CEO backs open‑weight AI models

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, warned that artificial intelligence could exceed human intelligence within five years, arguing it will transform the economy, double its size and lead to the deployment of billions of humanoid robots that could replace many physical jobs. He suggested that traditional retirement savings may become irrelevant as AI-driven productivity reshapes wealth creation.

Coinbase chief executive Brian Armstrong replied to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s X post urging support for open‑weight AI models. Armstrong said Coinbase is migrating more work to such models and that a fine‑tuned system trained on 100,000 internal compliance cases can outperform leading closed‑source models for specific tasks. Huang’s letter, signed by other tech leaders, argued that open‑weight AI expands access, competition and safety while acknowledging misuse risks.
