Elsinore trailer debuts starring Andrew Scott and Olivia Colman
The first trailer has been released for Elsinore, a biographical drama starring Andrew Scott and Olivia Colman. Directed by Simon Stone and written by Stephen Beresford, the film tells the true story of actor Ian Charleson.
Charleson, portrayed by Scott, famously took over the role of Hamlet at London’s National Theatre after Daniel Day-Lewis departed the production. The film explores Charleson’s life and his struggle with an AIDS diagnosis during his acclaimed performances. Olivia Colman stars as Dr. Margaret Johnson, a physician treating Charleson and others during the HIV epidemic.
Elsinore has already garnered critical attention, winning the International People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. Focus Features is set to release the film in the United States on November 20, while StudioCanal will bring it to UK cinemas on January 29, 2027.
