Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia to attend Palio di Asti

Prince Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia will visit Asti on September 5 and 6 to participate in the Palio di Asti as a guest of the Rione Santa Caterina. The two-day itinerary is designed to provide an immersive experience of the event's organizational structure and traditions.

On Saturday, the Prince will meet with local authorities and various Palio officials, including the 21 Rectors of the districts, the Palio Captain, and technical and veterinary commissions. The schedule includes attending the Corteo dei Bambini parade and the general race rehearsals in Piazza Alfieri. In the evening, he will join the Rione Santa Caterina for a propitiatory dinner in Piazza Santa Caterina.

Sunday's program includes a visit to the Palio Museum, a Mass at the Church of Santa Caterina d’Alessandria d’Egitto, the blessing of the horse, and performances by flag throwers and musicians. While he will observe the historical parade featuring over 1,200 participants, it has been noted that he will not be marching in the procession himself.
