León hosts major food fairs and traditional festivities

The city of León is hosting several significant cultural and gastronomic events. The XXXII Feria de los Productos de León is currently underway at the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones, featuring 108 producers. Key highlights include the IX Agustín Risueño National Ham Slicing Contest, live cooking demonstrations involving local products like lentils from Tierra de Campos and trout, and various workshops for children focused on honey and cheese.

Simultaneously, the city is celebrating 'El Día de Peñas,' a traditional festival characterized by musical groups (charangas) and parades through the historic center and the Barrio Húmedo. The festivities include popular games and the first International Madreñas Race of the Kingdom of León.

In the local food sector, La Huerta de Fresno is participating in the León Product Fair, showcasing its new escalivada made from its own harvest of eggplant, onion, and bell pepper.
