León agrifood sector promotion

In September 2026, the Diputación de León participated in the Fromago Cheese Experience in Zamora to promote the province’s agrifood sector. Under the ‘Productos de León’ brand, 11 local companies presented a range of goods including cheese, honey, sweets, and alcoholic beverages. Roberto Aller, Vice President of the Diputación, noted that such forums are essential for positioning local products globally.

By October 2026, the focus shifted to the León Product Fair. During this event, producers such as Embutidos Ezequiel showcased traditional items like botillo, cecina, and chorizo. The fair highlighted the gastronomic diversity of regions including Bierzo, Laciana, the Páramo, and Las Vegas, with an emphasis on Protected Geographical Indications (IGP) to ensure quality and traceability.

In mid-October 2026, the XXXII Feria de los Productos de León continued at the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones, featuring 108 producers. The event included the IX Agustín Risueño National Ham Slicing Contest, live cooking demonstrations using local trout and lentils from Tierra de Campos, and educational workshops for children regarding cheese and honey. During the fair, La Huerta de Fresno presented a new escalivada made from its own eggplant, onion, and bell pepper harvest.

Parallel to these gastronomic activities, the city celebrated ‘El Día de Peñas,’ a traditional festival featuring parades and musical groups through the historic center and Barrio Húmedo. The festivities also included the inaugural International Madreñas Race of the Kingdom of León.
