Emergency housing provided or requested following fires and disasters

Families in Argentina and Chile are facing housing emergencies following fires and natural disasters.

In Las Heras, Argentina, a family in the 110 Viviendas neighborhood lost much of their home and belongings to a fire. The damage affected several rooms, including a child's bedroom and the bathroom, with some items also damaged by water used during firefighting efforts. The family is currently displaced, with members staying in different locations, and is seeking community donations of construction materials such as corrugated iron and timber to begin repairs while awaiting municipal assistance.

In Chanco, Chile, emergency housing was delivered to two families through the National Service for Disaster Prevention and Response (SENAPRED). One family received aid following impacts from frontal weather systems, while another received an emergency home and habitability kits—including food and hygiene supplies—after losing their house to a fire. The delivery was coordinated by the Presidential Delegation and the Municipality of Chanco.
