Emergency services conduct siren and mobile alert tests in Austria and Germany
Emergency services in Austria and Germany are conducting scheduled tests and exercises to ensure disaster preparedness.
In Austria, approximately 8,300 sirens across the country will undergo testing on Saturday, October 3. Between 12:00 and 12:45, signals for warning, alarm, and all-clear will be played to verify functionality. This siren test coincides with a nationwide AT-Alert test, which sends emergency notifications directly to mobile phones and smartwatches to prepare for natural disasters such as floods or wildfires.
In Dillingen, Germany, a large-scale fire department exercise is scheduled for Thursday. The drill involves the BSH Hausgeräte factory fire brigade alongside the Dillingen and Schretzheim volunteer fire departments. The exercise simulates a fire at a dishwasher manufacturing plant as part of Fire Action Week, aimed at practicing coordination between industrial and local volunteer services.
