Emergency services respond to gas leaks in Mexico and Chile

Emergency services in Mexico and Chile responded to separate hazardous gas leaks in recent incidents.

In San José del Valle, Mexico, Protección Civil and firefighters from Bahía de Banderas responded to a significant LPG gas leak from a 30-kilogram cylinder in the Los Arcos residential area. The leak originated from the base of the tank, posing an immediate risk of explosion or intoxication. Authorities secured the area and transported the damaged cylinder to a Global Gas station for safe emptying and disposal. No injuries or property damage were reported.

In Maipú, Chile, authorities responded to an ammonia leak emanating from an abandoned cold storage facility. Following reports of the odor, firefighters detected ammonia levels above normal. As a preventive measure, students at the nearby Colegio Alicante were evacuated. While traffic disruptions occurred due to emergency operations, no injuries or affected persons have been reported.
