Italy's aerospace and space economy sectors gain strategic focus
At the BEX – Beyond Exploration Expo, regional leaders and industry experts discussed the growing importance of the space economy and aerospace sectors in Italy.
Vincenzo Colla, Vice President of the Emilia-Romagna region, emphasized that the region's exceptional manufacturing capabilities, including expertise in the Motor Valley and nautical sectors, position it to be a key player in the international space economy. He noted that local companies are already providing essential components and engineering services to major global groups.
Paolo Cerabolini, President of the Lombardia Aerospace Cluster (LAC), highlighted the necessity of cross-sectoral ecosystems. He argued that the future of aerospace relies on integrating diverse industrial cultures—ranging from electronics and AI to medical technologies and precision mechanics—to drive innovation and help small and medium-sized enterprises enter new markets.
