Emilia-Romagna funds 22 new defibrillators for Cesena area

Twenty-two new automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are being distributed across seven municipalities in the Cesena area. The initiative is funded by the Emilia-Romagna Region, which allocated 1,515,000 euros for the purchase of defibrillators across health agencies in the region, with 382,000 euros specifically assigned to the Azienda USL della Romagna.

In the Cesena-Valle Savio district, Sarsina will receive six units, Verghereto four, and Cesena two. The Rubicone district will see three units each in Gambettola, San Mauro Pascoli, and Roncofreddo, with one unit for Savignano sul Rubicone. These devices will be placed in high-traffic public areas, including squares, municipal offices, and sports facilities, to ensure uniform coverage across both major centers and smaller hamlets.

This deployment is part of a larger effort in the Forlì-Cesena province, bringing the total number of defibrillators distributed within a year to 102. The equipment is purchased through the Intercent-ER regional convention and handed over to local municipalities. The measure aims to improve survival rates for sudden cardiac arrest, which affects approximately 60,000 people annually in Italy outside of hospital settings.
