Emilia-Romagna launches energy funds and social microcredit
The Emilia-Romagna regional government has launched two new financial initiatives to support businesses and citizens facing economic challenges.
First, the regional Energy Fund is reopening on October 12, offering up to 1 million euros in financing for companies of all sizes and Energy Service Companies (ESCOs). The 20-million-euro fund supports energy efficiency, renewable energy for self-consumption, circular economy projects, and seismic upgrades combined with energy improvements. Loans can last up to 96 months, with 75% provided via zero-interest public resources and 25% through partner banks at subsidized rates. Applications are open until November 30.
Additionally, the regional assembly approved the establishment of a Regional Fund for Social Microcredit. Aimed at individuals and families experiencing temporary economic hardship—such as job loss or separation—the fund covers essential expenses like healthcare, rent, and education. The fund provides a 100% guarantee for loans from partner banks, eliminating the need for personal sureties. Beneficiaries will also receive assistance from a tutor to help manage family budgets and prevent excessive debt.
