Italian urban regeneration projects

Entities: Comune di Guastalla · ANCI · Ferrara · Comune di Modena · Comune di Cattolica

Overview

In late July 2026 Italian municipalities began large‑scale urban regeneration. Bareggio approved redevelopment of the former Ex Alma site, and Rieti launched a €7 million renovation of the Nazzareno Strampelli Institute. The Emilia‑Romagna region then funded projects in Carpi and selected Isernia to lead the E²nGInE‑Hub, aiming to streamline EU and national funds.

On 5 August 2026 Emilia‑Romagna announced further Hub Urbani grants, bringing the regional programme to more than €21 million for 43 projects. The latest tranche earmarked €7 million, allocating €560,000 to municipalities such as Fiorano Modenese, Formigine, Sassuolo, Modena, Cattolica (via Bovio), Reggio Emilia, Guastalla, Correggio, Novellara, Campagnola, Scandiano and others, while Reggiolo and Rimini received €500,000 each. Ferrara, Cento, Codigoro and Tresignana each obtained €560,000 as part of a €2.24 million package. The funding continues to target historic city centres, neighbourhood commerce, public‑space upgrades, green areas, lighting and digital tools for local businesses.
