Emilia Romagna sees steady ER visits in heat wave while workplace injuries surge

Data from the AUSL Romagna health authority show that emergency department visits at the four district hospitals in Ravenna, Forlì, Cesena and Rimini during the two weeks of 26 June‑9 July 2026 were essentially unchanged from the same period in 2025, despite a prolonged heat wave. The number of visits ranged from 4,340 in Rimini (up from 4,297) to 1,933 in Forlì (up from 1,888), with the busiest days linked to local events and tourism.

A separate report from the INCA‑CGIL observatory indicates a sharp rise in occupational injuries and reported work‑related diseases in Emilia Romagna for January‑May 2026. Recorded injuries increased 7.5% to 33,837, while occupational diseases rose 19.1% to 4,138. In Modena province, May 2026 saw a 4.5% increase in injuries and a 54.8% jump in disease reports compared with the previous year, especially among workers aged 15‑40 and in sectors such as agriculture, industry and services. CGIL officials called for stronger preventive investment, training and inspection resources.
