Emilia-Romagna updates renewable energy legislation

The Emilia-Romagna regional government has modified Law No. 5 of 2026, which identifies suitable areas for the installation of renewable energy plants. Following the law's initial implementation, the Legislative Assembly began refining the text in coordination with the relevant Ministry to improve clarity and effectiveness.

The legislative revision aims to balance the acceleration of the energy transition—including solar, wind, and hydroelectric power—with the protection of rural landscapes, high-value agricultural land, and natural interest areas. This move follows national directives to implement European renewable energy guidelines, delegating the task of identifying specific territories for simplified installation procedures to regional authorities.
