Infrastructure protests and safety incidents reported in Mexico, Argentina, and Peru

In Mexico, residents of the Las Trancas-Coatepec highway in Emiliano Zapata, Veracruz, held a multi-day blockade to demand urgent road repairs. Protesters from communities including Alborada, El Chico, and La Estanzuela cited severe pavement deterioration and frequent accidents as primary concerns. Following the intervention of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) and anti-riot units to clear the road, an agreement was reached with the Veracruz government. The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Public Works (SIOP) has committed to beginning rehabilitation efforts on September 17.

In Argentina, a cooperative leader in Tartagal led a brief blockade at the southern access point to demand meetings with municipal authorities regarding pending public works projects. The group sought to secure work and address infrastructure needs, such as water canalization in the 365 Viviendas neighborhood.

In Peru, a school wall in the Santa Clara district of Ate collapsed during sewage works, potentially endangering 150 primary and preschool students. Local residents reported that groundwater seepage weakened the soil, causing the perimeter wall to fall and creating a security risk for the school facilities.
