Emiliano Zapata residents face risks from road sinkhole

A sinkhole on the road connecting La Bocana and El Aguaje in the municipality of Emiliano Zapata continues to pose a risk to residents and motorists. The damage, caused by heavy rains last September, has compromised the asphalt and created critical hazards on the route.

Local residents have expressed concern that the current rainy season could worsen the situation, as rising water levels from nearby streams threaten to wash away the road entirely and isolate rural communities. The affected highway serves as a strategic connection to the Xalapa-Veracruz federal highway. Residents are calling on state authorities to prioritize repairs to prevent accidents or total loss of communication between localities.
