Emilia‑Romagna launches new rescue boat for coastal volunteers

A 6‑metre rescue boat, named Tenace, was launched on the Cesenatico pier to augment the fleet of 14 vessels used by volunteer civil‑protection teams along the Emilia‑Romagna coast. The boat, capable of carrying up to 14 people including a five‑person crew, was financed with €50,000 from the region’s 2025 operational plan.

The vessel will operate under the maritime authority within 300 m to three nautical miles of the shoreline, supporting patrols, search‑and‑rescue missions, transport of rescued sailors, and delivery of medical staff during emergencies. The ceremony was attended by regional sub‑secretary for civil protection Manuela Rontini and Cesena deputy mayor Lorena Fantozzi, who highlighted the investment in equipment and training to protect the coast’s environmental, economic and tourism value.
