Emirates unveils new electric premium economy seats with privacy screens

Emirates has unveiled new premium economy seats featuring electric controls and integrated privacy screens, a move the airline describes as a world first for this cabin class. The new seats will debut on the airline’s newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft.

The seats include an electrically operated privacy partition that passengers can raise, lower, or lock to increase privacy while sleeping, eating, or working. The electric mechanism also controls seat reclining and leg rests. To prevent encroaching on the space of passengers seated behind, the seats utilize a cradle-style mechanism where the entire seat base slides.

Additional features for the premium economy cabin include 20-inch wide seats, leather U-Dream headrests with adjustable wings, and wireless charging alongside USB-C ports. The seatback trays will also feature integrated phone holders. The A350 cabin will also offer 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen entertainment systems and external cameras providing views from the sides of the aircraft.
