Emirates premium economy service expansion

Overview

Emirates is expanding its premium economy service and cabin technology. Starting 1 September 2026, the airline is extending its premium economy offerings to new international routes, including daily flights between Dubai and Kuala Lumpur using the Airbus A350, and services between Dubai and Mauritius using the Airbus A380 and retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft.

In conjunction with these service expansions, the airline has unveiled a new generation of electrically powered premium economy seats. Following the delivery of new Airbus A350 aircraft, the airline debuted these seats, which it claims are the “world’s first fully electrically powered Premium Economy seats to feature full-height, adjustable privacy screens between every seat.”

The new cabin configuration utilizes a 2-3-2 layout with 28 seats. Each 20-inch wide seat offers a pitch of up to 39 inches (99cm) and a cradle-style recline designed to prevent encroachment on passengers behind. Passengers can manage seating positions—including dedicated “lounge and meal modes”—and privacy dividers via an integrated Passenger Control Unit. The electrically operated privacy partitions can be raised, lowered, or locked to increase privacy while sleeping, eating, or working.

Technological and ergonomic features include a 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen for the ice entertainment system, wireless charging, and USB-C ports. Additional amenities consist of a tray table with an integrated smartphone holder, a manually operated leather footrest, and Safran Seats U-Dream leather headrests with adjustable wings. The A350 cabin also features external cameras providing views from the sides of the aircraft.
