Emmanuel Emegha's hamstring injury dents Dutch World Cup prospects
Forward Emmanuel Emegha suffered a hamstring injury after entering for RC Strasbourg in a French league match against Toulouse, forcing him off the pitch within minutes. Dutch national team coach Ronald Koeman said the injury makes Emegha’s chances of reaching the World Cup very slim.
Koeman also used the briefing to update the squad outlook: midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has been dropped from his considerations, while Guus Til has emerged as a possible replacement after Xavi Simons’ knee injury. The coach added that he is monitoring the fitness of Memphis Depay ahead of the tournament.
These developments come as the Netherlands finalise their roster for the upcoming World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
