Emmanuel Macron faces historic low popularity in French polls

Recent polling indicates a significant decline in popularity for French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu. According to a CSA study, approximately two-thirds of French citizens rate Macron’s economic performance negatively. Disapproval is highest among voters aged 65 and older (74%) and supporters of right-wing parties such as National Rally and Reconquête, where 91% of respondents viewed his economic work negatively.

An Ipsos BVA-Cesi barometer shows Macron’s overall popularity has reached a historic low, with favorable opinions at just 16%. This decline is particularly sharp among supporters of his own political coalition, including Renaissance, MoDem, and Horizons, where approval dropped by 19 points. Sébastien Lecornu also saw a decline, with popularity estimated at 20%.

Public concern is primarily driven by economic issues. The top concerns cited by respondents include difficulties regarding purchasing power (54%), the future of the social security system (40%), the environment (31%), immigration (31%), and national debt and deficit levels (30%). France's national debt currently stands at approximately 3.566 trillion euros, exceeding 117% of the country's GDP.
