Empat Musim Pertiwi selected as Indonesia's Oscar entry for 2027

The film ‘Empat Musim Pertiwi’ (Four Seasons in Java) has been selected by the Indonesian Oscar Selection Committee (IOSC) to represent Indonesia in the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards in 2027.

Directed by Kamila Andini and produced by Ifa Isfansyah for Forka Films, the movie follows a woman named Pertiwi, played by Putri Marino, who returns to her birthplace after 20 years to confront her past. The story explores themes of trauma, resilience, and the search for home.

The selection followed a rigorous evaluation process, including special screenings in Jakarta. The film has already premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and is scheduled for screenings at the Busan International Film Festival and the Tokyo International Film Festival. It is set for a wide theatrical release in Indonesia on October 8, 2026.
