Empresa Portuaria Iquique coordinates regional logistics strategy

Executives from Empresa Portuaria Iquique (EPI) met with the acting mayor of Iquique, Marco Pérez, and the municipal council to discuss the proposed Regional Logistics Policy. The initiative aims to establish the Tarapacá region as a strategic logistics node for the South American macro-region.

The strategic roadmap focuses on infrastructure development, digitalization, sustainability, and maritime cabotage. Key components include the development of bioceanic corridors and support for mining projects to drive demand.

During the meeting, EPI leadership provided details regarding the bidding process for the new port concession. Local authorities expressed support for the proposal, emphasizing the importance of transparent dialogue to ensure the port serves as a primary driver for regional and continental commerce through 2050 and 2060.
