Empresa Portuaria Iquique proposes regional logistics policy

Empresa Portuaria Iquique (EPI) has presented a proposal for the Tarapacá Regional Logistics Policy, covering the period from 2026 to 2040. The initiative aims to plan port growth, territorial connectivity, and economic integration.

Iquique Mayor Mauricio Soria expressed support for the proposal, noting that it offers an integral vision that extends beyond the port to include the ‘last mile’ and coordinates various institutions. The goal is to transform Iquique into a major import and export center by integrating its port, airport, and Free Trade Zone (Zofri).

Regional authorities also highlighted the project's potential to consolidate Tarapacá as a logistics hub in the South Pacific, which could attract investment, increase competitiveness, and generate new regional employment.
