Emssanar EPS receives new interventor in Colombia

The Colombian National Superintendency of Health has appointed Javier Alonso Álvarez as the new special interventor for Emssanar EPS. Álvarez, a public accountant with an MBA and 20 years of experience in health sector financial management, succeeds Julio César Rey, who was dismissed following allegations of failure to perform his duties.

Emssanar EPS serves approximately 1,651,783 affiliates across six departments in southwestern Colombia, including Valle del Cauca, Nariño, Putumayo, and Cauca. Within his first month, the new interventor is required to present a comprehensive diagnosis and a work plan aimed at reversing the insurer's financial and operational difficulties.
