Emtee returned to custody after bail revocation

South African rapper Mthembeni Ndevu, known professionally as Emtee, has been returned to custody after a Midrand Magistrate’s Court revoked his bail. The decision follows allegations that Ndevu violated a 2023 protection order obtained by his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy.

The protection order prohibited Ndevu from verbally abusing Chinsamy or contacting her directly or indirectly via social media or other means. Authorities moved to revoke his previous R1,000 bail after he allegedly sent offensive text messages to Chinsamy, breaching the strict conditions of his release.

This incident follows a period of public reflection for the artist, who recently issued a statement expressing regret for the emotional strain caused by his personal conflicts. This marks the second time this year he has been held in police custody regarding this ongoing legal matter.
