Encore Boston Harbor workers strike over contract disputes

More than 1,300 employees at the Encore Boston Harbor resort have begun a strike following the expiration of their previous contract on August 31. The workers, represented by UNITE HERE Local 26 and Teamsters Local 25, include housekeepers, cooks, servers, bartenders, slot attendants, warehouse workers, and drivers. The striking group accounts for approximately 41 percent of the resort's staff.

Union representatives state that negotiations with Wynn Resorts have stalled. Workers are demanding improved wages, better benefits, and enhanced job protections. While the casino intends to remain open using non-union and replacement workers, union leaders have requested that patrons do not cross the picket lines. The unions have indicated they intend to continue the strike until a new contract is reached.
