Encore Boston Harbor labor strike
Overview
Approximately 1,350 workers at Encore Boston Harbor in Everett, represented by UNITE HERE Local 26 and Teamsters Local 25, voted to authorize a strike in late August 2026. The employees sought better compensation, livable wages, and improved health insurance ahead of their contract expiration with Wynn Resorts on August 31.
Following the expiration of the contract, more than 1,300 employees—including housekeepers, cooks, servers, and slot attendants—commenced a strike. The striking group represents about 41 percent of the resort’s staff. While Wynn Resorts intends to keep the casino open using replacement and non-union workers, union leaders have requested that patrons avoid crossing picket lines, stating they will continue the strike until a new contract is reached.
