Encore Boston Harbor workers vote to authorize strike

Approximately 1,350 workers at Encore Boston Harbor in Everett have voted to authorize a strike. The employees, represented by UNITE HERE Local 26 and Teamsters Local 25, are seeking better working conditions and fair compensation as their contract with Wynn Resorts is set to expire on August 31.

Union representatives stated that a strike could begin at any time following the contract expiration without prior warning. Workers have expressed that they are seeking livable wages and improved health insurance, arguing that their labor has contributed significantly to the property's success, which generated nearly $847 million in revenue in 2025.

The unions have requested that the public refrain from crossing picket lines or spending money at the casino should the strike occur. While workers expressed a desire to avoid a strike, they indicated that current contract terms are insufficient to support their families.
