Endesa to invest in Balearic Islands power grid following outages

Endesa is meeting with local authorities in Formentera and Ibiza to address frequent power outages experienced during the summer. In Formentera, the Consell Insular has met with company executives, including the director of Endesa in the Balearic Islands, Martí Ribas, to discuss the recurring service interruptions.

To address these issues, Endesa e-distribución has presented an investment plan for Formentera totaling more than 4.5 million euros. The plan includes 12 specific actions designed to modernize the distribution network, increase capacity to meet rising demand, and improve system resilience. Key projects involve expanding the Formentera substation, constructing new medium-voltage lines in La Savina, and creating new interconnections in areas such as Cala Saona, Sant Ferran, Es Pujols, and Es Ca Marí.

Simultaneously, the Consell of Ibiza is also holding meetings with Endesa representatives following requests from local institutions and the business association Pimeef to resolve similar stability concerns on the island.
