ENEA concludes POR H2 national hydrogen research program
The POR H2 national research and development program on hydrogen has concluded its activities. Promoted by ENEA in collaboration with CNR and RSE, the program was funded with 120 million euros through an agreement with the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security.
The program's results include 150 lines of activity, 75 collaboration agreements with Italian universities, 85 funded doctoral scholarships, and 28 fixed-term contracts for young researchers. The research covered various aspects of the hydrogen economy, including renewable hydrogen production, new storage systems, e-fuels, fuel cells, and smart energy infrastructures.
Giulia Monteleone, Director of the Department of Energy Technologies and Renewable Sources at ENEA, stated that the program has created a national network of expertise and infrastructure that serves as a strategic asset for the country. The next challenge involves translating these scientific results into industrial competitiveness and concrete applications regarding performance, cost, safety, and sustainability.
