Enea report: Italy achieves 5.08 Mtep in energy savings

According to the 15th annual Enea report on energy efficiency, Italy achieved energy savings of 5.08 Mtep between 2021 and 2025. This figure represents approximately 85% of the intermediate target of 6 Mtep set by the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC).

Tax deduction mechanisms were the primary driver of these savings, accounting for 2.67 Mtep, or roughly 52% of the total. However, a reduction in savings was noted in 2025 due to the scaling back of incentives. Other contributing factors included White Certificates, which saw a cumulative saving of 0.83 Mtep for the period, and the Conto Termico, which showed growth in 2025. While sustainable mobility measures remain significant, they experienced a slight decline in 2025.
