Enel digital services outage affects São Paulo customers

Enel's digital channels, including its website and mobile application, experienced an outage in São Paulo on Saturday, the 15th. The energy distributor attributed the disruption to an operational problem with its infrastructure provider, Amazon Web Services (AWS).

While Enel cited global instability within AWS, reports indicated that AWS services remained operational and no general sector-wide outage was detected. The digital failure occurred alongside heavy rains in the Greater São Paulo area, which left more than 60,000 properties without power.

During the outage, customers reported difficulties accessing services via WhatsApp, the app, and the website, leading to numerous complaints on social media. Enel implemented contingency measures to prioritize telephone support for emergencies, power outages, and vital clients.
