ENEL schedules power outages in Santiago on May 21

The state‑owned utility Enel announced scheduled electricity interruptions across several communes in Chile’s Santiago Metropolitan Region on Thursday, 21 May, coinciding with the public holiday for Naval Glories. The cuts are planned to last from about six to eight consecutive hours, affecting areas such as Ñuñoa, La Florida, Providencia, Macul and others. Enel said the outages are necessary for maintenance, network modernization and preventive work aimed at strengthening the continuity and stability of the electric supply during periods of high demand.

Residents have been urged to plan appliance use, disconnect sensitive devices and keep flashlights or backup batteries handy. Detailed maps of affected streets are available on Enel’s website, and a telephone line (600 696 0000 / 800 800 696) is provided for inquiries and emergency assistance.
