Moldova raises fuel margin and secures gas supplies for 2026‑27 winter
The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) approved an increase in the commercial margin for gasoline and diesel of 0.48 lei per litre to fund emergency petroleum stocks, raising the retail price ceiling to 29.01 lei per litre for diesel and 29.41 lei per litre for gasoline effective 1 August 2026.
State gas supplier Energocom has begun a phased procurement for the 2026‑27 gas season, launching five auction rounds since 16 July and contracting part of the required volumes (up to 276 MWh per quarter for 2026 and 365 MWh per year). The aim is to ensure supply security for Moldova’s consumers during the winter months. At the same time, European natural‑gas prices have jumped about 16 % to nearly €60 per MWh, prompting Energocom to request a tariff increase for domestic customers from 14.42 to 20.93 lei per cubic metre.
Both measures are intended to strengthen Moldova’s energy resilience ahead of possible market disruptions.
