Energy companies secure major long-term renewable power agreements
Good Energy has entered its largest power purchase agreement (PPA) to date with Ørsted. The two-year contract, running from October 2026 to October 2028, involves purchasing 200GWh of renewable electricity annually from the Walney 1 and Walney 2 offshore wind farms off the coast of Cumbria. This move represents a shift in the company’s strategy to combine its decentralized generation model with large-scale, long-term contracts to meet the rising electricity demands of data centers.
In Norway, Statkraft and Hydro Energi have signed a long-term PPA to secure an annual supply of 876 GWh between 2031 and 2040, totaling approximately 8.8 TWh over the contract period. This marks the third such agreement between the two companies this year. The deal is intended to provide stable, competitive, and low-carbon power for Hydro’s aluminium production plants in Norway.
