Energy storage projects advance in Haryana and Maharashtra

NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL) has secured an auction from SJVN Limited to develop 265 MW/530 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Haryana. The tender, valued at approximately Rs 6.36 billion, includes two projects with capacities of 250 MW/500 MWh and 15 MW/30 MWh. The facilities will be located near the Panipat thermal power station and are eligible for viability gap funding of up to Rs 1.8 million per MWh. NIRL will enter a 12-year purchase agreement with SJVN.

Separately, NTPC Limited has issued a tender for a 400 MWh BESS project at the NTPC Mouda Super Thermal Power Station in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The project will be executed via an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) package, covering the supply, installation, and integration of battery systems, management systems, and fire protection. The selected contractor will also be responsible for an 11-year annual maintenance contract following the successful completion of performance tests.
