EnerVenue begins high-volume production of Aqueous Metal Cells
EnerVenue has commenced high-volume production of its Aqueous Metal Cell (AMC) technology at a manufacturing facility in Wujin, China. The production line, which uses custom-designed equipment to facilitate a continuous flow from raw materials to finished cells, is expected to reach full automation and a daily output of approximately 300 fourth-generation cells by November.
The facility’s first phase has an annual capacity of 250 MWh, with plans to scale to 1 GWh by 2027 and multi-gigawatt-hour levels by 2028. The AMC technology is described by CEO Henning Rath as a water-based, nickel-based battery designed for 30,000 cycles and extreme environments, featuring no risk of thermal runaway.
Quality control involves 41 checks across 11 stations to verify performance, leak tightness, and weld integrity. EnerVenue recently secured its first multi-megawatt-hour commercial order, consisting of 26 Energy Prism containers with a combined 11 MWh capacity, for an oilfield company in northern China.
