KPSC recruitment scam: ED arrests suspended chairman and member
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested the suspended chairman of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), Shivashankarappa S Sahukar, and commission member BV Geetha. The arrests are part of a money laundering investigation into alleged irregularities during the final selection process for veterinary officers' recruitment.
A Bengaluru court has remanded the two accused to ED custody, with orders to produce them in open court. The investigation follows allegations that question papers were leaked and candidates were provided with answers in exchange for bribes ranging from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 40 lakh.
Earlier in the probe, the agency arrested Basavaraj Kannale and former KPSC Examination Controller Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar. Investigators are also examining financial records and the involvement of several candidates who may serve as witnesses to the alleged bribery and recruitment manipulation.
