ENGIE and Okta expand partnership to secure AI agents and passwordless identities
During the 2026 Cybersecurity Assises in Monaco, executives from ENGIE and Okta discussed the evolution of identity and access management (IAM). ENGIE’s Head of Group Architecture, Pierre-Antoine Falaux-Bachelot, detailed an eleven-year partnership with Okta to unify authentication across the group. ENGIE is currently working toward the complete removal of Active Directory by 2030, transitioning to a system where Okta serves as the primary identity repository. This shift includes moving toward passwordless authentication, with 99.9% of cases now utilizing biometrics or device posture verification.
Xavier Mathis, Okta’s Regional Vice President and Country Manager for France, highlighted that the company is expanding its focus to include non-human identities, specifically securing AI agents. Okta is participating in the BluePrint Alliance—alongside AWS, ServiceNow, Salesforce, CrowdStrike, and Zscaler—to address the security challenges posed by interconnected information systems and the rise of AI agents.
