Engie Brazil Energia raises R$8.4 bn in share offering for Jirau hydro plant

Engie Brazil Energia announced a primary share offering that raised R$8.36 billion, pricing the new ordinary shares at R$30.50 each. The issuance of 274.08 million shares will increase the company’s capital to R$15.22 billion and fund the transfer of a 40% stake in the Jirau hydroelectric plant, valued at R$5.744 billion, from its controlling holding Engie Brasil Participações. The market reacted with a 3.84% drop in Engie’s shares on the B3.

ISA Energia also launched a share offering that could raise up to R$1.3 billion. The transmission company, which operates in 18 Brazilian states and accounts for about 30% of the national grid, reported a 6% profit increase in the first quarter and plans to use the capital to pay Axia Energia for a transmission asset split and to accelerate reinforcement projects.

Light (LIGT3) completed a capital increase of R$1.5 billion, issuing 238.4 million new shares at R$6.29 each and distributing subscription bonuses. The move follows the company’s request to end its judicial recovery process after meeting the main obligations of its restructuring plan. The capital raise brings Light’s total equity to R$6.97 billion and supports its ongoing operational normalization.
